Zander Bacon is a musician based in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. They studied trumpet under Dr. Richard Tirk for five years, and have shared the stage with Tia Fuller, Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band, Sean Jones, and Donny McCaslin at the SWOSU Jazz Festival. During their time at Southwestern, they performed with the top Jazz Ensemble, the Wind Symphony, and was principal trumpet with the Symphony Orchestra.

What is something interesting that people may not know about you?
I have lived in five different states! I was born in Wyoming, then moved to Florida, Mississippi, Colorado, and then Oklahoma! Colorado was by far my favorite place to live, and I hope to move back home soon.

What are you hoping to learn this summer at the NRO?
During my time at the NRO, I am hoping to learn more about what goes on behind the scenes at an orchestra concert. I am extremely excited to spend the summer listening to beautiful music in a beautiful place!

What activities/hobbies do you most enjoy?
When I’m not making music, I like to go on hikes, play minecraft, and listen to Taylor Swift! I am wanting to explore mountain biking as well!
