Community Engagement
making music accessible for a diverse audience
Animating Summit County with Music
Our Community Engagement programs are essential for creating a mutually beneficial relationship between the NRO’s musicians and the local community in Summit County, Colorado. For symphony orchestras to survive and thrive, musicians need to be advocates for classical music in all aspects of life, especially by being active and present in their communities. During their summer fellowship, NRO musicians take part in the Community Engagement program animating Summit County with engaging and free performances in neighborhoods, parks, plazas, libraries, and classrooms.
music in the mountains
The NRO loves making Music in the Mountains. This free series brings our world class musicians into spaces popular with locals and tourists alike. You can see our musicians in Blue River Plaza, The Troll, Prospector Park, and the Barney Ford Museum.
open rehearsals
Experience first-hand how the conductors and musicians prepare for upcoming concerts. Most NRO rehearsals at the Riverwalk Center are open to the public.
Porch Series
Breckenridge Associates Real Estate is a longtime partner of the NRO with a beautiful historic building right on Main Street. We celebrate our partnership with live music right on their front porch. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy wonderful music in the heart of our lovely town.
Symphony in the Streets
Symphony in the Streets is a vibrant, day-long celebration that will transform Breckenridge into a sprawling outdoor musical venue, with ensembles from the NRO orchestra serenading audiences in parks and beloved locations across the town throughout the day, infusing our scenic streets with orchestral beauty for residents and visitors to enjoy.
Pop-up concerts
The NRO partners with various organizations all across Summit County. You can hear us in Frisco, Dillon, and Silverthorne at their lovely public spaces. Check us out at the Frisco Marina or at Theater SilCo right next to the Blue River. We also make stops at the 1883 Schoolhouse in Dillon and the historic Frisco Gazebo.
Free Family concert
Join Jason Seber and the National Repertory Orchestra in a free and fun concert perfect for the young and the young at heart. We have arts and crafts the hour before the concert and finish the show just in time for lunch. The performance always has something surprising for everyone!
