Bio:
Lea Baumert (she/her) is an established flutist in the North Dallas area, where she teaches a private studio of 50+ middle school and high school students. Lea’s professional performing experience includes playing with the Tulsa Symphony, Dallas Opera, Rapides Symphony, and the Amarillo Opera. Lea received her Bachelor’s degree from West Texas A&M University, where she studied with Helen Blackburn; and her Master’s degree from Louisiana State University, where she studied under Dr. Katherine Kemler. Though most of her studies are in flute and performance, Lea enjoys the opportunity she has to work on the production side of the orchestra with the NRO. She has several years of experience managing and participating in stage productions at her undergraduate university, planning and facilitating over 100 concerts and recitals during her time there.

What is something interesting that people may not know about you?
I learned how to beatbox on my flute a long time ago and now I use that skill to recruit students and sometimes even teach them beatbox pieces!

What are you most looking forward to this summer with the NRO?
I am most looking forward to working with the AMAZING production team. Darrin Blume is one of the kindest and supportive people I have ever worked for and he cultivates such a welcoming and inspiring environment for the staff and fellows. Working with production and the musicians to put on so many amazing performances over the summer is one of the most fulfilling jobs I have ever done and I can’t wait to do more this summer!!

What activities/hobbies do you most enjoy?
Needlework (cross stitch, embroidery, etc.), cooking
