Amanda Sparfeld (NRO Alum 2012) recently won the position of Principal Flute with the Sarasota Opera. In addition, she is the Principal Flutist of the Michigan Opera Theatre Orchestra at the Detroit Opera House. Former positions include Principal Flute of the Miami City Ballet and the Battle Creek Symphony Orchestra. Additionally, Amanda substitutes regularly with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and has performed extensively with the New York Philharmonic as Second Flute, including a Tour to Europe and a PBS Live From Lincoln Center television broadcast.
Amanda says, “NRO was the best summer musical program I have experienced, and it has provided me with the skills in which to learn and perform a vast repertoire of symphonic music in a short period of time. As a direct result of NRO, I began performing and auditioning with greater confidence. This experience has proved invaluable to me.”
