If you experienced the 2018 or 2019 summer season with the National Repertory Orchestra, you might remember Community Engagement Manager Nicolas Gonzalez.
Recently, Gonzalez was selected as one of 11 outstanding arts administrators for the Sphinx Organization’s Leaders in Excellence, Arts and Diversity (LEAD).
Sphinx LEAD is a 2-year leadership program designed to evolve the industry landscape by empowering the next generation of executive leaders.
Arts leaders of color are selected annually to participate in a curriculum including mentorship, networking, and leadership retreats at top institutions nationwide.
LEADers receive the following over the course of the two-year program:

$5,000 towards individual professional development

Travel/housing + stipend towards additional travel expenses

Opportunity to learn best practices from leading arts organizations across the country

Professional mentorship

Access to a network of influential industry professionals

Collaboration and support within a community of arts leaders of color
Mr. Gonzalez is currently the Community Engagement and Education Manager at Stamford Symphony where Michael Stern is also Music Director.
