Bio:
Nathan is a violinist currently studying at the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at California State University of Long Beach with Moni Simeonov. He’s also a violinist in the American Youth Symphony and California Young Artists’ Symphony. He serves as the concertmaster in the BCCM Symphony Orchestra and the University String Quartet, and he has spent his summers at the National Orchestral Institute + Festival and Blackburn Academy at Festival Napa Valley. He is also a recipient of the Jameisson-Pechstein College of the Arts Endowed Scholarship.

What inspired you to become a musician?
Listening to Ravel's Daphnis et Chloé in my freshman year of high school

Who are your all-time favorite composers and/or pieces? Why?
Richard Strauss, Maurice Ravel, and Gustav Mahler

What is an interesting fact about you and/or your instrument?
I used to volunteer as an aquarist at the Monterey Bay Aquarium!

When taking a break from music-making, what is your favorite thing to do?
I like to solve Rubik's cubes in my spare time while I'm listening to music! I also like listening to classical music recordings that inspire me.

Why did you choose the NRO?
I've always wanted to spend one of my summers at NRO, and the main reasons were because of the repertoire, conductors, and tremendously high level of music-making.
