Marco is from Rio Grande City, Texas: a small town on the U.S.-Mexico border, and began taking viola lessons at age 8. While pursuing his undergraduate studies at Southern Methodist University’s Meadows School of the Arts, he studies with Ronald Houston. He has performed with renowned musicians such as Masumi Rostad and Edward Aaron as part of Meadows School of the Arts’ Chamber Music Masterworks Series. He was also a finalist in the 2023 Tuesday Musical Club’s Young Artists Competition.

What is something interesting that people may not know about you?
I have never been outside of the country.

When taking a break from music-making, what is your favorite thing to do?
Play video games, watch tv, and go for walks.

What are you most looking forward to this summer with the NRO?
I hope to better learn how to quickly prepare a full program of music to a high level, as well as get more experience playing in an orchestra.
