New-York based clarinetist, Juliyan Martinez is a student at the Juilliard School under Jon Manasse. In his hometown of Atlanta, GA, he completed his high school studies with Atlanta Symphony Orchestra clarinetist, Marci Gurnow as a member of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Talent Development Program. He currently holds a position as 3rd and Bass Clarinet in Symphony in C and has performed with the Atlanta Symphony, Westchester Symphony, and New World Symphony orchestras. Juliyan is a proud recipient of a Juilliard Kovner Fellowship.

Who are your all-time favorite composers and/or pieces? Why?
Ravel Daphnis and Chloe is my favorite piece of all time. The sound world is so beautifully and gloriously textured throughout.
What is an interesting fact about you and/or your instrument?
I’m a huge horror movie fanatic!
When taking a break from music-making, what is your favorite thing to do?
I love to draw and paint.

The repertoire list is incredible, and I’m excited to be challenged to learn and perform a lot of repertoire in a short amount of time with integrity and confidence.
