Born and raised in Macon, Georgia, Joe Kovac discovered the cello in middle school and began lessons in high school. He received a Bachelor of Music from Florida State University in 2019 where he studied with Mr. Gregory Sauer. Joe just received his Master of Music at Miami University of Ohio under the tutelage of Dr. Sarah Kim. He is starting an Artist Diploma program this fall at the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music. Joe currently plays cello in the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra. When he isn’t practicing, Joe is usually weightlifting, running, or cooking.
If you had a superpower, what would it be?
The ability to play the cello in tune.
What are you most looking forward to this summer with the NRO?
Performing for a community as passionate about music as the members of the orchestra!
