Bio:
From Norman, Oklahoma, Jacob Merrill completed his Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Oklahoma while studying under Dr. Karl Sievers. He is now finishing his Master’s degree in Trumpet Performance at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music studying under Mark Inouye. Jacob has performed alongside world famous groups such as Boston Brass and Ambrose Akinmusire quartet. Outside of the trumpet, Jacob will either be planning his next national park trip, or watching the Oklahoma City Thunder.
What is something interesting that people may not know about you?
I love fish! At the moment, the only aquarium I own is a lego set.. In the future, I’d love to have multiple real aquariums!

Claude Debussy, Johann Sebastian Bach, and the third depends on the day. Today, probably Gustav Mahler
When taking a break from music-making, what is your favorite thing to do?
Go outside! Anywhere doing anything.
What are you most looking forward to this summer with the NRO?
Like most people, working through a lot of repertoire with the greatest young musicians in the world in one of the most beautiful parts of the country.
