Bio:
Originally from Rochester, NY, Griffin Harrison currently attends the Curtis Institute of Music and was a member of the graduating class of 2021 from the Boyer College of Music and Dance at Temple University. He has been a percussionist since he joined the studio of Ruth Cahn when he was 14 at the Eastman School of Music. In his Sophomore year, Griffin won the Temple University and Aspen Music Festival Concerto Competitions, performing “Concerto for Marimba and Strings” by Emmanuel Sejourne for both performances. Aside from percussion, Griffin loves producing his own music and thrift shopping.

What is something interesting that people may not know about you?
Aside from being a classical musician, I also make my own music as a music producer.

Name three of your favorite composers:
Dmitri Shostakovich, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and Sergei Rachmaninoff.

When taking a break from music-making, what is your favorite thing to do?
Playing basketball and rock climbing.

What are you most looking forward to this summer with the NRO?
Im super excited to be spending the summer in the Rocky Mountains making beautiful music with some of the best musicians in the country!
