Bio:
North Texas based musician, David Cavazos, is a versatile percussionist with many specialties ranging from orchestral to marching percussion. As a performer, David has performed with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, Louisiana Philharmonic and Artosphere Festival Orchestra among others.
When not performing, teaching, or arranging, David enjoys cooking and spending time with his yorkie, Keiko and German Shephard, Tex.

What inspired you to become a musician?
All of my teachers through middle school and high school.

Who are your all-time favorite composers and/or pieces? Why?
Debussy and Prokofiev. My favorite piece of music is Prokofiev 5.

What is an interesting fact about you and/or your instrument?
I was originally going to play clarinet in 6th grade, but my mom made me audition for percussion. Good call.

When taking a break from music-making, what is your favorite thing to do?
Playing rocket league and cooking.

Why did you choose the NRO?
It’s always been a dream of mine to attend the NRO. I look forward to the connections and experience.
