Colby Kleven

Colby Kleven began his Bachelor of Music studies at the Juilliard School in 2020 under the guidance of preeminent chamber musician Eric Reed. In 2022, he became a proud recipient of a Kovner Fellowship. A regular orchestral performer, Colby has played in the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, Princeton Symphony, and with musicians from the Royal Academy of Music. In his free time, he enjoys composing, creative writing, and exploring Central Park.

What is something interesting that people may not know about you?
I can do a few good impressions; specialties include Kermit, old Obi-Wan Kenobi, and whoever is currently running for president.

When taking a break from music-making, what is your favorite thing to do?
Games of any kind – playing cards, video games, cornhole, etc.

What are you most looking forward to this summer with the NRO?
This summer, I want to absorb as much ensemble sense as I can and develop my sound as part of a large group. I also just love learning new rep, so I’m excited to have all of these amazing pieces under my belt.
