Bio:
Christine Kao is pursuing Master of Music degree at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music studying with Peter Stumpf. Before her enrollment at Jacobs, she earned her undergraduate degree from National Taiwan Normal University, where she studied with Lee-Wen Dai. Throughout her musical journey, Christine has accumulated a diverse array of experiences, ranging from serving as a principal cello to participating in various ensembles.

What inspired you to become a musician?
It’s a really enjoyable time to play music with people.

Name three of your favorite composers:
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, his music has his characteristic and always able to express feelings through his music.

What is an interesting fact about you and/or your instrument?
The maker of my cello named it “Rachmaninoff: Oriental Dance.”

When taking a break from music-making, what is your favorite thing to do?
Having snacks.

Why did you choose the NRO?
I found NRO would be a wonderful opportunity for me to learn a variety of orchestral repertoire and to gain great orchestral experience.
