What inspired you to become a musician?
My friends inspired me to join middle school band, but I kept with it after listening to, preparing, and performing music invoked feelings in me nothing else could replicate.

Who are your all-time favorite composers and/or pieces? Why?
My favorite composers are Prokofiev, Mahler, and Strauss. Prokofiev’s 5th and Copland’s 1st are my favorite symphonies, and the Rite of Spring is my favorite non-symphony. I don’t usually like to rank things, but not a day passes that I don’t hum one of these pieces!

What is an interesting fact about you and/or your instrument?
I picked the tuba because fifth grade me thought it sounded humorous.

When taking a break from music-making, what is your favorite thing to do?
I love to watch sports, work out, and plane spot!

Why did you choose the NRO?
I chose NRO because the idea of performing many orchestral staples with some of the most talented young musicians in the country in one of the finer towns our nation has to offer sounds like a dream come true!
