Austin Cantrell is a percussionist based in New York City. He completed his undergraduate work in Percussion Performance and Mathematics at Indiana University and is pursuing his Master of Music Performance at The Manhattan School of Music. He has played in the percussion sections of the Terre Haute Philharmonic and the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic. He is from Charlotte, North Carolina.

What is something interesting that people may not know about you?
I grew up on a farm until I was ten years old!

When taking a break from music-making, what is your favorite thing to do?
Read, play sports, go to the gym, spend time with family or friends.

What are you most looking forward to this summer with the NRO?
I hope to learn how to balance life and work while rehearsing and performing at a high level in an orchestra with a demanding schedule/repertoire.
