Bio:
Alex Wallack is a double bassist originally hailing from the Philadelphia area and currently residing in Chicago. Alex has studied classical double bass for five years now, but loves performing jazz, rock, and bluegrass music, and composes jazz originals. Alex would be nowhere without his teachers: Andy Raciti, Scott Dixon, and Nate West.

What inspired you to become a musician?
My parents taking me to concerts as a kid!

Name three of your favorite composers:
Shostakovich 5! It’s when I realized I wanted to play bass professionally.

What is an interesting fact about you and/or your instrument?
I’m a card shark and will beat anyone in any card game.

When taking a break from music-making, what is your favorite thing to do?
I love to be outside and active: running, hiking, or swimming.

Why did you choose the NRO?
I’m really excited to play a summer season of amazing repertoire with an outstanding orchestra.
