Since January 2013 the NRO History Committee has been gathering all manner of historical data for inclusion in a comprehensive written history of the NRO, from the Blue Jeans Symphony Orchestra of Estes Park to the NRO of Breckenridge, 1960 – 2016. The Committee conducted more than 30 personal face-to-face and phone interviews, reviewed all the season programs that could be found since the Orchestra’s inception in 1960, culled through all the NRO file boxes to retrieve documents relevant to this project, and collected old photos for inclusion in the book.

There are numerous enlightening quotes from alumni and guest conductors; Carl BMG BlueJeanCoverTopilow penned a Foreword drawing on his more than 38 year history with the Orchestra; and Doug Adams took a serious look at the future in his Afterword.  “Blue Jeans to Breckenridge” depicts an orchestra with a 56 year history that is colorful and varied. While there are many interesting and amusing stories in the book, the most striking feature of its history is its sheer survival.
