Emily Tuan, NRO Personnel Intern ‘13 and NRO Orchestra Manager ‘14, is now the Operations Manager for the New England Conservatory Preparatory School. She received her Master of Music degree in flute performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in May 2014 and completed her undergraduate studies at the Colburn Conservatory of Music.
The NEC Preparatory School is a community music school which serves over 1,500 K-12 students. As the Operations Manager, Emily works behind-the-scenes with faculty members, parents, and young musicians to ensure that all events relevant to the Prep School run as smoothly as possible. At the end of June, Emily will take the School’s Youth Symphony on a tour to Ireland.
Emily shares, “Working with the National Repertory Orchestra for the past two seasons was an indispensable experience for me to learn what it took to successfully manage a professional ensemble and anticipate musicians’ needs on a consistent basis. It was during my season as the NRO Intern that I realized my passion in collaborating with musicians from the administrative aspect. No matter where I end up, I will be forever grateful for the wonderful team and incredibly talented musicians I had the opportunity to work with.”
