What inspired you to become a musician?
As a young child, I listened to a youth orchestra perform at church on Sundays. I was especially drawn to the violins and the way they played together as an ensemble. Watching them move their bows with freedom and coordination captivated me, and I loved how that movement created a resonant, broad sound.

Name your favorite composers and/or pieces:
Beethoven, Brahms, and Tchiakovsky. Listening to their works illustrates a strong sense of character, excitement, and richness of the orchestration.

What is an interesting fact about you and/or your instrument?
I used to be on the swim team in seventh grade during middle school. Even though I wasn’t a good swimmer, I tried to learn the skills and improve.

When taking a break from music-making, what is your favorite thing to do?
I love to go to the gym to play basketball or work out, take naps, and spend time with my family.

Why did you choose the NRO?
I chose NRO because it provides an exciting opportunity to learn and perform a lot of challenging, intense repertoire. I want to get to meet other talented musicians in a collaborative environment. Attending this festival will allow me to gain valuable experience, and prepare me for a career as a violinist in a major orchestra.
