Drumroll, please … the National Repertory’s 2025 season is upon us. Fueled by the power of discovery, Opening Night lands at The Riverwalk Center in Breckenridge at 6 p.m. Saturday with a whimsical blast: Discover … Dreams.
The concert launches the Discover series embodying the dreamy sensation of endless possibilities each one of us experiences when hiking, biking or strolling through this stunning landscape in the Colorado Rockies.
Sticking to the dreamy theme, the program includes twinkling, inspiring renditions of Felix Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Hector Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique as well as a powerful and emotional rendition of Tchaikovsky’s Variations on a Rococo Theme.
The 2025 orchestra musicians arrived in Breckenridge from across the nation (plus a few internationally) less than a week ago. They have been furiously rehearsing every day. The group comes with resumés including principal positions in major orchestras, Juilliard School and Curtis Institute graduates, a wealth of international awards, big venue performances and accolades. These are some of the world’s best and brightest young musicians.
Michael Stern, NRO Music Director who recently concluded his 19-year tenure as Music Director of the Kansas City Symphony, will conduct the performance.
