The Recording Engineer is an essential part of a six-person production and audio team. Enhance and share your technical skills in audio while working directly with some of the most talented musicians in the nation and world-renowned conductors and guest artists!

The Recording Engineer is part of a six-person production and audio team and oversees all recording and amplification aspects for the duration of the festival. The Recording Engineer reports directly to the Production Manager and is expected to work closely and effectively with the Stage Manager, Assistant Production Manager, two Production Fellows, Director of Operations, Orchestra Manager, Music Librarians, Music Director, and CEO to ensure clear communication of recording and amplification needs.

What You Will Do:
Manage all aspects of the recording studio including but not limited to:

  • Operate and maintain sound recording equipment
  • Record all performances and rehearsals
  • Compile and edit performance recording samplers for the needs of the NRO, including radio broadcasts, grants, and sales
  • Assist in all production transportation efforts as necessary for run-out performances
  • Manage pre-season and post-season set-up and strike of all recording equipment
  • Comply with the needs of the Riverwalk Center staff in terms of striking any unused recording equipment during non-NRO events
  • Run multiple recording devices simultaneously to ensure no lost performances
  • Some front of house and live amplification duties
  • Oversee live amplification for Community Engagement events
  • Train and guide the Production Fellows to assist with recording and live audio needs
  • Create audio advance sheet for production packet
  • Provide quality customer service; customers defined as all stakeholders
  • Other duties as assigned

Candidate Profile:

  • Previous orchestral recording engineering experience required
  • Ability to read music and computer skills are required
  • Knowledge of classical music is preferred
  • Must be able to work on an elevated structure (catwalk & genie lifts)
  • Strong organizational skills required
  • Ability to lift, move or transport up to 40 pounds
  • Applicant must be able to handle confidential situations with an even-tempered and professional approach
  • Must work well under pressure, prioritize effectively, and be detail-oriented
  • Above all, must have a positive attitude and be a team player


  • $3,000-$4,000 (DOE)
  • FREE employee housing in Breckenridge
  • Weekly food stipend

Your Time in Breckenridge:
The position will begin on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, with the last working day on Thursday, August 18, 2022.
Breckenridge Arrival: Monday, June 6, 2022 / Breckenridge Departure: Friday, August 19, 2022
