BRECKENRIDGE, CO (April 20, 2020): On Friday, April 17, the National Repertory Orchestra Board of Trustees unanimously approved a motion to cancel the 60th Anniversary Diamond Concert Season slated for June 13 – July 31, 2020, in Breckenridge and surrounding areas of Summit County, CO.
Please read an important message from CEO, Dave DePeters.
To the National Repertory Orchestra Musicians, Staff, and Patrons,
Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the National Repertory Orchestra (NRO) has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020, 60th Anniversary Diamond Concert Season. In consideration of the health and safety of our musicians, staff, and patrons, we believe this is the most prudent and responsible course of action.
We do not take the decision lightly. While we regret the need for this choice, we understand the bearing it has on our musician fellows, summer staff, board, donors, sponsors, patrons, the Town of Breckenridge, Summit County, and all our NRO family. Given the uncertainty of the novel virus and the possible serious health ramifications, this is our best option for the 2020 music festival and the long-term future of the NRO.
We are in the process of reaching out to all supporters of our 60th Anniversary Season to discuss the effects of the cancellation.
All ticket purchasers will have the option of a complete refund, donating the cost of the tickets to the NRO for a fully tax-deductible contribution or a combination of both.
The DNA of the NRO is education. For this reason, we are exploring remote learning opportunities to expand and continue world-class training and experiences for our NRO fellows – past, present, and future.
Our musicians have an invitation to attend the 2021 National Repertory Orchestra Season without retaking an audition. Details will be communicated to the musicians very soon.
The NRO is here for you now and will be here for you in the future with innovative programming, performances, community engagement, and education for our musicians and our community in 2021. Sixty successful seasons do not happen without tremendous support and love. We are grateful to everyone who makes the NRO one of the most successful and influential summer educational music festivals in the world year after year.
We wish our entire NRO family, musicians, patrons, supporters, and alumni health and safety, especially during these unprecedented times.
