Bio:
TYLER MARTIN was appointed Second Flute/Piccolo of the Houston Grand Opera Orchestra in 2021. He has performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Seattle Symphony Orchestra, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, Missouri Symphony Orchestra and Spoleto Festival USA Orchestra. He is a 2022 Young Artist In Residence for American Public Media’s Performance Today and the first prize winner of the 2021 Houston Flute Club’s Byron Hester Competition.

What is something interesting that people may not know about you?
Something interesting people usually don’t know about me is that I started off in music with piano and wanted to be a singer/songwriter.

When taking a break from music-making, what is your favorite thing to do?
Most people are surprised to find out that I’m really into anime! You can often find me on practice breaks watching the latest episode of Demon Slayer, Attack on Titan, Jujutsu Keisen, Black Clover etc.

What are you most looking forward to this summer with the NRO?
I’m most looking forward to visiting Colorado and exploring what Breckinridge has to offer, making new friends, and playing lots of repertoire.
