What inspired you to become a musician?
After attending my first summer festival in high school, I realized how much joy I found in playing alongside others who held a deep passion for music making. This experience allowed me to open up my own desire for it, which brought me to where I am today.
Name your favorite composers and/or pieces:
Recently, I have been enjoying Brahms and Prokofiev. I love Brahms’s romantic melodies and rich textures while Prokofiev’s eccentric harmonies and rhythms have a charming unfamiliarity.
What is an interesting fact about you and/or your instrument?
An interesting fact about me is that I used to figure skate. It is very relaxing and I try to go whenever I get the chance.
When taking a break from music-making, what is your favorite thing to do?
I love baking! I am still new, but I find joy in measuring everything and perfecting different recipes.
Why did you choose the NRO?
I chose the NRO for their extensive orchestra program and ensemble playing. It has also been a hope of mine to be able to make music in a more focused setting. I also wanted to put myself in a new environment to meet new people and get to know other musicians. I hope that this experience will further deepen my knowledge and love for music and later help me become a better professional musician. I also look forward to admiring the beautiful mountains in Breckenridge!
