What inspired you to become a musician?
Viola became more than an extracurricular activity after listening to Rebecca Clarke’s piano trio live at a local chamber festival.
Name your favorite composers and/or pieces:
Rebecca Clarke always holds a special place in my heart. I also enjoy Debussy, Ravel, Tchaikovsky, and Shostakovich.
What is an interesting fact about you and/or your instrument?
My lessons in North Dakota were a 2 hour commute each way!
When taking a break from music-making, what is your favorite thing to do?
Outside of the practice rooms and rehearsal spaces, I like to sing, take walks/runs, spend time with friends, and plow through podcasts.
Why did you choose the NRO?
My professor, Lembi Veskimets, played in the NRO the summer before she joined The Cleveland Orchestra. It is among the best festivals in terms of training for a professional career. The vast amount of repertoire combined with the high level of musicianship builds an incredible musical environment. This summer, I hope to push the limits of my abilities and find a new efficiency in the practice room.
