Bio:
Richard Stinson recently completed his graduate studies at The Juilliard School. Prior to Juilliard, he earned a Bachelor of Music degree from Indiana University. He has appeared with several orchestras including the Metropolitan Opera, Dallas Symphony, Louisiana Philharmonic, and New World Symphony. During the 2021-2022 season, Richard served as the Third Trumpet of the Terre Haute Symphony. He has previously attended the Aspen, Brevard, and Eastern music festivals. His principal teachers include John Rommel, Chris Martin, and Ray Mase.

What inspired you to become a musician?
My parents surrounding me with music since I was born.

Who are your all-time favorite composers and/or pieces? Why?
Gustav Mahler and John Williams. They have written many of my favorite melodies and write great brass parts!

What is an interesting fact about you and/or your instrument?
My first job was as a little league baseball umpire.

When taking a break from music-making, what is your favorite thing to do?
Spend time outside being active with family and friends.

Why did you choose the NRO?
I wanted to spend the summer playing in a great orchestra with great people in Breckenridge!
