What inspired you to become a musician?

I grew up in a very creative household and was always inspired by my parents to create new things around the house and in the world. When I was two, I would sing songs standing on my bed and enlist my family to be my audience. Soon after, I started violin, art, and dance classes and never wanted to do anything else!

Name your favorite composers and/or pieces:

I love the classics, Shostakovich, Brahms, and Debussy, but I am especially passionate about working with living composers. Most recently, I started a commissioning initiative to create new works for violin duo by female and gender diverse composers. There is nothing like working one on one with a composer to bring a piece to life!

What is an interesting fact about you and/or your instrument?

My instrument was made for me by Jeff Muller in Los Angeles! I helped pick the wood, got to carve part of its back, and my name is inscribed on the inside.

When taking a break from music-making, what is your favorite thing to do?

Take a yoga class, enjoy a hot latte, or start a new TV show.

Why did you choose the NRO?

NRO represents a unique opportunity for me to build the skills and experiences necessary to shape my future as a musician and a leader. As a Graduate student entering the professional orchestral world, I am at a pivotal stage in my career where cultivating technical, but also leadership, organizational, and collaborative abilities is crucial. NRO's emphasis on professional development, community engagement, and artistic growth aligns perfectly with my goals for this coming Summer and beyond. My current studies have rigorously prepared me to take professional orchestra auditions, preparing experts and solo repertoire to the highest level. NRO will provide me the opportunity to expand these studies and hone my abilities as a leader within the orchestra. Building these skills at NRO would be an invaluable experience as I continue to take auditions in coming years. This program offers exactly the kind of immersive, hands-on experience I need to take the next step in my career and contribute meaningfully to the orchestral world.
