What inspired you to become a musician?
When I was a baby, I was hysterical while on a trip with my parents until we heard a violinist busking outside Zabar’s in NYC. I stopped crying and was enthralled for a long time, and started begging to play the violin as soon as I could talk. I realized when I was about 15 that I couldn’t really imagine myself doing anything else, and nothing has changed there!
Name your favorite composers and/or pieces:
I’ve always loved Bach! His music is so intricate and purposeful. I also love to play anything by Debussy and Prokofiev for their interesting colours and textures.
What is an interesting fact about you and/or your instrument?
My instrument’s maker lives about an hour away from where I grew up!
When taking a break from music-making, what is your favorite thing to do?
I love reading and movies, and also love to play board and card games.
Why did you choose the NRO?
I chose the NRO because it fits perfectly into my long-time goal of playing in an orchestra professionally. The amount of fabulous repertoire we will get to play in such a short time is incredible and I can’t wait to work with my fellow musicians and the amazing conductors. I’m also thrilled to finally spend some time in beautiful Colorado!
