What inspired you to become a musician?
My brother convinced me to play an instrument as he played violin, so I chose cello because it was bigger than the violin but not too big like the bass, so it wasn’t too cumbersome to travel with.
Name your favorite composers and/or pieces:
Schumann Cello Concerto, Kabalevsky’s 2nd Cello Concerto, Dvorak Cello Concerto, and Kian Soltani’s Persian Fire Dance.
What is an interesting fact about you and/or your instrument?
I actually started on flute in 6th grade then switched to cello in 7th grade.
When taking a break from music-making, what is your favorite thing to do?
I really love working out, spending time with friends, pickleball, and reading fantasy.
Why did you choose the NRO?
I’m so grateful to be able to attend the NRO because it is a perfect festival for young, aspiring orchestral musicians who wish to make a career in classical music and beyond. I really love how NRO pushes its musicians to simulate a real professional-level orchestra by playing two or even three concerts a week! Furthermore, the scene at Breckenridge is so breathtakingly beautiful that I can’t wait to spend a whole two months there! Most importantly, I can’t wait to meet new friends and mentors at such a prestigious music festival!
