Dr. John Vitale, a native of Felton, Delaware, is a freelance trumpet player in the Austin area. He received his Bachelors at the Boston University School of Music and both his Masters of Music and DMA at the University of Texas at Austin Butler School of Music. John is a dedicated educator, teaching trumpet in the Austin, Leander, and Dripping Springs school districts. His principal teachers include Joseph Naff, Terry Everson, Peter Chapman, Ray Sasaki, and Billy Hunter, Jr.

What is something interesting that people may not know about you?
I found my kitten Poe in a parking lot when he was only 5 days old! I bottle fed him and nursed him back to health, and now 2 years later he’s my best friend!

When taking a break from music-making, what is your favorite thing to do?
Paddle boarding, hiking, and reading.
