What inspired you to become a musician?
Reading the letter Felix Mendelssohn wrote to his family about the inspiration for his “Scottish” Symphony made me realize that music can transform emotions and atmosphere in a way that goes beyond language. That idea deeply inspired me to pursue music.

Name your favorite composers and/or pieces:
Johann Sebastian Bach’s Goldberg Variations. I am drawn to the insight, imagination, and depth of his music—you can find everything in Bach’s work.

What is an interesting fact about you and/or your instrument?
My reed rests on my upper lip rather than my lower lip.

When taking a break from music-making, what is your favorite thing to do?
Exploring new restaurants and pastry shops, and occasionally cooking for friends.

Why did you choose the NRO?
I chose the National Repertory Orchestra because of its intensive orchestral focus and the opportunity to perform a wide range of major repertoire within an eight-week season. This experience will allow me to deepen my understanding of orchestral playing, particularly by connecting solo excerpts to their full context—something I have been increasingly focused on in my own preparation. As I prepare for graduate study and professional auditions, I believe this immersive environment will strengthen both my ensemble skills and musical communication. Additionally, the community engagement programs offer valuable opportunities to share music with broader audiences and learn how to make it more accessible and welcoming.
