Jacob Hord is currently pursuing a master’s degree at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music studying with Ed Stephan, Principal Timpanist of the San Francisco Symphony. Jacob attended the Brevard Music Festival in 2019 and 2021 where he won the Jan and Beattie Wood Concerto Competition, the Aspen Music Festival in 2022 with the Avedis Zildjian Company Percussion Fellowship and is greatly looking forward to spending this summer with the NRO in Breckenridge. Jacob has been a substitute percussionist with the San Francisco Symphony, the Dallas Symphony, and the Stockton Symphony and has served as Interim Organist for Church of the Advent of Christ the King in San Francisco, California and Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in DeSoto, Texas.

What is something interesting that people may not know about you?
In addition to my percussion/timpani studies, I have also been studying the organ for about 6 years and have a part time job as a church organist.

When taking a break from music-making, what is your favorite thing to do?
Hiking, biking, running, skiing.

New ways of music making.
