Bio:
Fish Brosmer is currently pursuing his Master’s in trumpet performance at The Juilliard School. As a performer, he strives to produce magic through music and affect the audience to the fullest extent. As a teacher, Fish hopes to be an inspiration to the younger generation of musicians by showing them what a passion for music can do. Outside of music, he loves to spend time with his two dogs, Henry and Delilah.

What inspired you to become a musician?
Growing up, I was very close to my uncle, and he showed me his passion for music. I followed in his footsteps directly, starting with drums and eventually switching to trumpet in the sixth grade. Twelve years later, I haven’t once regretted that decision!

Name your favorite composers and/or pieces:
I am a huge Rachmaninoff fan! I think music has the magic to affect people in different ways, and I believe that Rachmaninoff hits that idea on the nose. He writes with an immense amount of emotion and feeling.

What is an interesting fact about you and/or your instrument?
I have a brother who plays for the Minnesota Vikings.

When taking a break from music-making, what is your favorite thing to do?
I am an avid golfer as well as volleyball player so I try to get out and do those two things as much as possible.

Why did you choose the NRO?
I chose the NRO because of the chance to play repertoire that I feel is essential to my growth in music. On top of that, one of my favorite aspects of music is collaborating with others who have a passion just like yourself. I feel that at the NRO I will have the opportunity to share my love for music with the entire orchestra as well as those who sit in the audience.
