Praised for her “beautiful sound,” “excellent facility and tone,” and “superb sense of artistry and musicianship,” bassoonist Emmali Ouderkirk is pursuing her Master’s degree at The Juilliard School where she studies with Judith LeClair and Kim Laskowski. She is a recipient of the Presser Foundation Award for Orchestral Excellence, and has performed with orchestras including the New York Philharmonic, the Baltimore Symphony, and the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic.

What is something interesting that people may not know about you?
People might not know that I love to read historical fiction and poetry!

When taking a break from music-making, what is your favorite thing to do?
I love to knit!

I hope to learn a lot about the bassoon, and a lot about the nature and community in Breckenridge!
