What inspired you to become a musician?

My middle school band director was the most passionate person I had met up to that point in my life. His love for music and belief in my capabilities inspired me to want to pursue a career as a musician.

Name your favorite composers and/or pieces:

My favorite composer is Brahms and my favorite piece by him is his Symphony No. 1. I really enjoy the frequent metric manipulation, emotional intensity, and thick orchestration.

What is an interesting fact about you and/or your instrument?

I lived in Chile for over a year and can now speak Spanish.

When taking a break from music-making, what is your favorite thing to do?

As a Colorado native, I love hiking.

Why did you choose the NRO?

I have heard that the NRO closely simulates a full-time professional orchestra. I am looking forward to gaining more confidence in playing in a high-level orchestra and learning a large amount of repertoire in a short amount of time.
