Bio:
Flutist Elizabeth Kleiber was the winner of the 42nd James Pappoutsakis Competition in Boston, MA in 2022. She is currently pursuing her master's degree at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music under Marianne Gedigian. She earned her Bachelor of Music from the New England Conservatory in 2023, studying under Cynthia Meyers of the Boston Symphony. Elizabeth's previous teachers include Julia Bogorad-Kogan and Susie Kuniyoshi.

What inspired you to become a musician?
I started taking flute lessons at the age of 5 after becoming obsessed with the piccolo as a child.

Name three of your favorite composers:
Tchaikovsky is one of my favorite composers because his music always brings back fond memories of my years as a ballet dancer.

What is an interesting fact about you and/or your instrument?
I enjoy hiking and have been to 18 national parks.

When taking a break from music-making, what is your favorite thing to do?
I like to travel, care for my house plants, and spend time with my two rescued rabbits named Peach and Whiskey.

Why did you choose the NRO?
I chose NRO to be challenged as an orchestral musician and to collaborate with other experienced musicians.
