Bio:
Cecilia Martin is a 20-year-old violinist from Columbus, Ohio. She currently studies with Patinka Kopec at the Manhattan School of Music where she is completing her Bachelor of Music degree. Cecilia also has a passion for chamber music and recently participated in the 2024 Robert Mann String Quartet Institute. This summer, she also attended the Colorado College Summer Music Festival.

What inspired you to become a musician?
My mom played violin and piano when she was younger which inspired me to learn both!

Name three of your favorite composers:
My favorite composer of all time is Prokofiev because I love how powerful his music makes me feel.

What is an interesting fact about you and/or your instrument?
My violin is made by an American maker from Chicago!

When taking a break from music-making, what is your favorite thing to do?
I really enjoy reading and weightlifting.

Why did you choose the NRO?
I really wanted to focus on orchestra this summer, so my professor recommended this program because of how much repertoire I would learn in a short period of time. I also had heard about how rigorous the festival was which influenced me to choose to attend,
