What inspired you to become a musician?
Some of my earliest musical memories are attending Charlotte Symphony concerts when I was young. Hearing the orchestra live made a lasting impression on me and sparked my interest in classical music. As I began playing clarinet, the friendships and sense of community I found in school band and the Youth Orchestra of Charlotte became a major source of motivation to practice, improve, and share music with others.
Name your favorite composers and/or pieces:
Igor Stravinsky has been a long time favorite of mine! How could anything compare to the Rite of Spring?
What is an interesting fact about you and/or your instrument?
The clarinet will always have my heart, but I love playing the flute for fun as well!
When taking a break from music-making, what is your favorite thing to do?
I love to spend time with my friends! Watching movies, eating at new restaurants, or just exploring! I also love to relax at home with my cat.
Why did you choose the NRO?
I was drawn to the National Repertory Orchestra because of its ambitious repertoire and the fast-paced, professional learning environment it provides. I’m excited for the opportunity to perform challenging orchestral works while collaborating with other passionate young musicians. I hope the experience will help further develop my musicianship and prepare me for a career in orchestral performance!
