Bio:
Benjamin Merte is a master’s student at Michigan State University, where he studies with Professor Kevin Brown. He holds a bachelor's degree from Oberlin Conservatory where he studied with Scott Dixon and had previously attended Interlochen Arts Academy. He has performed at festivals including the Ojai Music Festival, Pine Mountain Music Festival, and the Klaus Stoll Summer Academy in Italy.
What inspired you to become a musician?
My first teacher, Derek Weller
Name three of your favorite composers:
Verdi, Rossini, and Beethoven. I am big fan of Italian Opera.
What is an interesting fact about you and/or your instrument?
Part of my instrument is made from wood found at a garage sale
When taking a break from music-making, what is your favorite thing to do?
Spending time with my dog, Freddy
