What inspired you to become a musician?
I grew up in a very creative household, and my early musical memories include playing fiddle tunes with my dad, putting on shows in my mom’s musical theater classes, and writing songs with my siblings. I was always serious about the violin, but attending the North Carolina School for the Arts high school program really inspired me to pursue music as a career.

Name your favorite composers and/or pieces:
It’s a bit of a cop-out answer, but I find my favorite composers are usually whoever’s piece I am currently working on.

What is an interesting fact about you and/or your instrument?
Before me, my instrument belonged to my childhood violin teacher’s teacher (my grand teacher!)

When taking a break from music-making, what is your favorite thing to do?
I love to swing dance, run, and work on weaving and sewing projects.

Why did you choose the NRO?
I am excited to focus completely on orchestral music this summer. Juggling many different kinds of musical projects throughout the year, I feel attending NRO is a rare opportunity to really dive into the rigor and joy of orchestral playing. I am excited to work on incredible repertoire, with brilliant musicians, in a beautiful place.
