What inspired you to become a musician?
In middle school, I watched my older sister play in an All-State orchestra where they played Polovtsian Dances from Prince Igor. It was incredibly inspiring to watch young musicians play at a high level, and it was one of the first pieces that made me want to play in an orchestra.

Name your favorite composers and/or pieces:
Barber and Rachmaninoff. Every time I listen to their orchestral works, I feel the same feelings I felt when I listened to them for the first time.

What is an interesting fact about you and/or your instrument?
I am currently teaching myself how to play electric guitar.

When taking a break from music-making, what is your favorite thing to do?
I like to run outdoors, read in cafes, and watch movies,

Why did you choose the NRO?
Summer break is one of the most important periods of the year to improve my playing and continue my studies. The NRO, with its immersive eight week program, will provide me with the opportunity to gain professional experience and expand my orchestral repertoire. Playing with the NRO will also allow me to perform with talented musicians, who I hope to garner knowledge from in addition to building a community. Additionally, I am excited to work with musicians who have the similar career goal of performing in an orchestra. The NRO provides the ideal space for me to continue performing and studying oboe during the summer, and will equip me with the skills necessary for my future endeavors.
