What inspired you to become a musician?
I definitely decided I wanted to become a musician after my first full orchestra experience as a junior in high school. Playing music I love with my friends was something I couldn't live without after that.
Name your favorite composers and/or pieces:
My all-time favorite composer is definitely Brahms, but my favorite piece has to be the Ravel G major piano concerto
What is an interesting fact about you and/or your instrument?
My "frankenstein bass" is made up of different additions and woods that have been swapped out and changed over the last 100 years. No part on my bass ranging from the fingerboard to the front wood is from the same decade!
When taking a break from music-making, what is your favorite thing to do?
My favorite thing to do when I'm not practicing is going to the movies!
Why did you choose the NRO?
Orchestra music has always been my favorite and the amount of orchestral playing that is done at NRO definitely attracted me to attending this summer festival. I hope one day to perform in a professional orchestra and being exposed to the all of the repertoire that we play over the eight weeks at this program is an incredible great experience to prepare me for that.
