What inspired you to become a musician?

After picking up the bassoon in middle school, I have discovered it to be a major way for me to express myself.

Name your favorite composers and/or pieces:

Some of my favorite composers are Pytor Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Bela Bartok, and Richard Strauss. I love when a composer is capable of creating a variety of atmospheres.

What is an interesting fact about you and/or your instrument?

Earlier this school year, I got really into freehand yoyoing, where the other end of the string is attached to counterweight rather than your hand. I have found that this really improves my hand-eye coordination, and is a fun skill to learn outside of music.

When taking a break from music-making, what is your favorite thing to do?

When not playing the bassoon, I enjoy hanging out with friends, spending time outside, and learning to cook new dishes.

Why did you choose the NRO?

I chose the NRO because I wanted to return to a rich and nurturing musical environment where I could get more experience playing with a high-level orchestra with an intense summer program. Last summer I had a life-changing experience with the NRO, and I wanted to return to a familiar environment where I know I will be supported as I continue to hone my skills. In addition, the opportunity to spend my summer in the beautiful and friendly town of Breckenridge is truly fantastic.
