Originally from Pennsylvania, trombonist James Tobias is currently pursuing his Master’s of Music degree at Rice University. His primary teachers include Allen Barnhill, Joseph Alessi, and Matthew Vaughn. In previous years, James has performed with the Jacksonville Symphony and won fellowships to perform with the Tanglewood Music Festival and Music Academy of the West. James is passionate about fishing, basketball, and spending time with his dogs.
When taking a break from music-making, what is your favorite thing to do?
Fishing.
