Music Director and Conductor Carl Topilow, currently in his forty-first year with the National Repertory Orchestra, has led the orchestra to the forefront of summer music festivals.  He has assisted in the training of talented young musicians and conductors for positions in orchestras in the United States and abroad.  His manner of presenting the music through musical illustrations and guides has enhanced the concert experience for the NRO’s appreciative audiences. 

Sam recently received his M.M. from New England Conservatory studying with Paul Katz and will begin a graduate diploma at NEC this fall. Sam received 1st prize in the MTNA Young Artist, Schubert Club, and Thursday Musical competitions. As an undergraduate, he appeared twice as a soloist with the St. Olaf Orchestra, performing the Schumann and Dvorak concertos in California, Oregon, Washington, and Minnesota. Sam plays a Carl Becker Sr. cello. He is from Atlanta, Georgia.
