Emma Gierszal is a percussionist, teacher, and arts leader living in Rochester, NY. While earning her DMA at the Eastman School of Music, she serves as a percussion instructor at the Hochstein School of Music and is on the advisory board for the local new music ensemble, fivebyfive. Emma earned her Master’s of Music at Eastman and her Bachelor’s of Music in Education at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina.
What has been the best meal of your life?
When my Eastman friends who all happen to be from the south got together for a Friendsgiving with all southern family recipes.
What is something interesting that people may not know about you?
I grew up playing piano and it was technically my major instrument during my undergraduate.
