Andrew Port

Andrew Port, from New York, has enjoyed nearly 16 years playing the oboe. He has earned fellowships at the Tanglewood Music Center and Music Academy of the West and spent a summer at Verbier Music Festival. During his 8 years living in Boston, he earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from New England Conservatory under the tutelage of John Ferrillo and Anne Gabriele. He was a founding member of the award-winning Wind Sextet ‘Les Six,’ who held performances at some of Boston’s most historic locations. Prior to leaving New York, he studied at the Juilliard Pre-College under Richard Dallessio.

What is something interesting that people may not know about you?
Before committing to music as a career, my initial plan was to go into some sort of computer-related career. To make money on the side, I’ve occasionally used those skills for 3D-modeling and programming.

What has been the best meal of your life?
A whole King Crab over a bed of pasta in San Francisco!
