Dave DePeters

Always looking for balance in his life, Dave DePeters spent his musical career performing with some of the nation’s finest orchestras while at the same time, searching for outlets that complimented a successful life in music.

Mr. DePeters has served as CEO of the National Repertory Orchestra since April of 2017.  Prior to the NRO, Dave’s experiences included many positions with the Iris Orchestra in Germantown, TN including personnel manager, general manager, and executive director.   As Executive Director from 2013-2018, Iris Orchestra celebrated some of the most productive and profitable years in the orchestra’s history.

As a performer, Mr. DePeters began his career with the Buffalo Philharmonic as percussionist and second timpanist.  He left after three years to pursue a Master of Music at Temple University.  During his studies, he won positions as the first extra percussion with the Baltimore Symphony and Philadelphia Orchestra.  After a three-year stint as a full-time musician with the Baltimore Symphony, he began performing with the New York Philharmonic.  Mr. DePeters retired from performing in 2017 after three years with the Buffalo Philharmonic, fifteen years with the Baltimore Symphony, thirty years with the Philadelphia Orchestra, and ten years with the New York Philharmonic.  Dave can be found on many recordings with all of these orchestras.

Having always been an outdoor enthusiast, DePeters took time between performance engagements to enjoy the mountain lifestyle.

For five seasons, Dave worked as a full-time ski instructor for Whitetail Ski Resort in Mercersburg, PA.   For an additional five seasons, Dave worked as the Technical Director and Assistant Ski School Director at Whitetail.  His specific duties were to train the trainers on how to teach and ski better.  Mr. DePeters was featured in a September 1996 article in Skiing Magazine when he was voted one of the Top 100 Ski Instructors in America.

During this time, Whitetail began a mountain bike program.  Dave was engaged to design the trail system for Whitetail and then to develop a mountain bike school.  This led to him writing a training manual on how to teach mountain biking.

Mr. DePeters holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Curtis Institute of Music.  He lives full-time in Breckenridge, CO.  He is married to Elizabeth Hainen, Principal Harpist with the Philadelphia Orchestra.
