One of the brightest new stars of the harp, Abigail Kent, was the touring Harp Ambassador as “Concert Artist” for the American Harp Society 2017–19. Kent is a sought-after concert soloist, harp educator, and harpist for symphony orchestras. Originally from Charleston, South Carolina, she has studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London, Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, Mannes School of Music in New York City, and The Juilliard School.
What are you most looking forward to this summer with the NRO?
Playing a concerto with the orchestra!
What is Something Interesting that people may not know about you?
I play may different genres of music like Celtic, Bluegrass, and Old-Time music as well as 8 other instruments (piano, cello, Celtic harp, mandolin, tenor banjo, the Irish bodhran/drum, the Irish pennywhistle, and the Scottish chanter).
